What Am I Doing?

Today the same question has continuously been running through my head.  "What am I doing?"  Not what am I doing in the sense of confusion.  More like, "What am I doing for God's kingdom?"  Each day, I go to work (typically at three different jobs) then I take a jog.  After my jog, I like to sit down and relax before the day is over.  Where, in my daily tasks, am I making a difference for God's kingdom?

Colossians 3:23 says, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for man."  You see, doing our "everyday" tasks is great...as long as we are doing them for God and not just because we have to.  Lately, I have had the attitude of "Ok.  I will go to work today, but I'm not going to enjoy it."  God wants us to go to work, exercise, clean the house, and help others as though we are doing it for him.  We shouldn't be completing our daily tasks just because we have to, but because we desire to please our heavenly Father and make Him smile at us.  Our hearts should burn with a desire to please our God.  If they don't, it's time to jump deeper into the word and our prayer lives!  The challenge for all of us is this: Learn to enjoy every task (even the icky ones) because we know we are doing it for God's glory.

Here are some ways to improve our attitudes about our daily tasks:
  1. Sing praises to God
  2. Silently and continually pray
  3. Memorize a scripture
  4. Reflect on a devotional or passage from the Bible
I hope you enjoy the following song to go along with this message!
